There have been incredible advancements in fighting pediatric cancer, but families are continuing to deal with much more than just a terrifying diagnosis. They're also taking on financial, social, emotional and job-related challenges -- that almost nobody is equipped to help them solve. How can we revolutionize the way families navigate pediatric cancer? That’s where our work begins.

Memorials to genocide, like the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre in Rwanda, are powerful and educational, but aren’t spurring meaningful, sustainable action once visitors leave. How could we change this? We redesigned the museum experience to inspire hope and engage visitors in the fight to stop these atrocities.

His Holiness The Dalai Lama called on schools to educate children’s hearts as well as their minds. How do you educate the heart? We explored integrating mindfulness into public school curricula and developed a solution that encourages and enables teachers to share best practices.

Professional musicians in New Orleans are some of the best in the world, but they’re struggling to make ends meet in the wake of Katrina. How can design help musicians better support themselves? We dug into the music economy and designed solutions to help boost their standard of living and make social services more accessible.

From homelessness to mental health and public education to gang violence, we need to rethink our solutions to our biggest social challenges. We leveraged the user experience design toolkit to rework existing solutions to these challenges, and found new paths of progress by doing so.
